I have a love/hate relationship with Mother’s Day.  It is such a difficult day for me since I lost my own mother to cancer when I was 14, and since I have a baby that is in Heaven.  There are so many low emotions that I have to process on that day & it can be rather draining!  BUT…I also have so much to be thankful for.  I get to be the mother to Mason & Millie and get to watch them grow and discover new things every day.  I couldn’t be more thankful!

Well…here’s how my crazy day started out!  Mason & Millie were spending the night with the grandparents on Saturday night & we get a phone call at 1am that Millie has a fever.  Kay brings her over & sure enough…103.5.  Yippie.  Millie cuddles in bed with us & in the morning, I awoke to her throwing up on me.  Happy Mother’s Day.  Does a mommy ever really get a day off?  Thankfully that was the only time she threw up that day & we were able to keep the fever controlled with Motrin.  We had Tyler’s parents over for lunch and enjoyed the afternoon together.  The kids took a nice long nap & I cuddled on the couch and watched a chick flick.

When the kids woke up from their naps, I made everyone get dressed up & we headed to Allerton Park.  (I hope Millie forgives me some day for dragging her out for pictures while she was sick!  Once the Motrin kicks in, she feels great. So, she was feeling ok during the trip to the park.)  I really wanted to get a new family picture put on canvas for Mother’s day.  I set up the tripod & worked the self timer…and literally worked up a sweat running back and forth.  Ten seconds just isn’t very long!  But, I’m thrilled with what we were able to get before it started raining!

These are my two favorite shots from the day…the first one is going to be a 24×36 canvas that will hang above our buffet table! 🙂

Isn’t my family cute? 🙂  I can’t wait for the canvas to arrive!

Check back tomorrow for the sneak peek of a beautiful senior I took pictures of the other day!
