I was given the opportunity to photograph a birth on Wednesday. It is hands down the most amazing experience I’ve had since starting my photography business. I truly hope that I will have many more opportunities to participate in watching other sweet babies enter the world. I took Kim’s maternity photos not long ago, and it was so fun to be able to witness the little bundle that was so cozy inside of her! 🙂
I got the phone call early Wednesday morning that Kim was in labor & I headed up to the hospital around 9:45am to check on her. When I arrived, she was 8 cm. Then, by 10:45 she was 9.5 cm. I was thinking, man, this is going so fast! Then…she got stuck at 9.5 & couldn’t progress. They started pitocin & tried to make her contractions stronger. They finally started having her push around 3 & she pushed for 3 hours! (she’s my hero!) At around 6pm, she delivered a beautiful boy & he was 9 lbs 5 oz…and sooo cute! I enjoyed getting to witness all of the emotions of the day & hope I was able to capture some sweet memories of their day! It was a wonderful, amazing day that I won’t ever forget!
Also, the baby is the grandson of Stacey…and you may remember a post about her, here. I can’t quite put into words how it was to watch Stacey with her grandson. God is good.

One of my favorite things about the day is that it was Kim’s birthday! Can you think of a more amazing present than a perfect little baby for your birthday? They had opted not to find out the sex of the baby, so it was such a wonderful birthday surprise! 🙂
I can’t thank you all enough for allowing me to be a part of your day. I can’t wait to watch him grow! 🙂
