Monday started off sunny! (Such a great break from the day before!) We got up & headed over to Magic Kingdom. I was surprised at how busy it was & the park had only been open an hour or so! We headed to the back of the park to go ahead and ride Dumbo before the lines got too long. We knew we had to be at the castle at noon for lunch, so we tried to fit in as much as we could before lunch with Cinderella. We rode Dumbo (the kids loved making him go higher and lower), Winnie the Pooh’s adventures (why there is such a wait for that ride is beyond me), the carousel, and watched the Philharmagic 3D adventure. Millie hated the Philharmagic movie. As soon as water sprayed her she started panicking. (You’ll hear me repeat that over and over in the next few blog posts…she wasn’t very adventurous!) We had her take her glasses off and the rest of us loved the show! Mason giggled and kept trying to grab the objects as they flew in front of him. Millie’s behavior was so much better than the day before, so she earned her princess dress. We went to Castle Couture and she picked out the Belle dress. We went and got her changed into her clothes & daddy surprised her with the Belle purse and gloves. (such a sweet daddy!!) She looked BEAUTIFUL!!!! I was so excited to watch her as she got to meet the princesses. We entered the castle & Millie saw Cinderella…and freaked out! She started screaming and ran for the exit door! (magical moment #2-fail.) I grabbed her on the way out & made her wait in line to meet Cinderella & get her photo taken. I had to be in the picture with her…but it was worth it. Sure, she looks terrified in the picture…but she is so glad she has the photo now! She thought the coast was clear as we walked up the stairs into the dining room. She had no idea what was about to happen. The princesses entered one by one and started making their rounds. Panic was setting in Millie’s eyes as they got closer to the table. She just kept saying “Just have them sign my book! I don’t want to look at them!” When each princess arrived at the table, I just had them scoot into the bench next to us and Tyler took our photo. She was scared at the beginning and smiled really big at the end with Belle. (But she never really let go of me!) The food was fabulous & Millie got a wand, and Mason got a sword. They had a wishing ceremony & they made wishes, waved their wands (and swords), and said “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!” and the castle lights flickered and music played like they just cast some magical spell. It was soooooo sweet!!!!! Mason didn’t complain one bit that he had to endure the lunch with the princesses & he even got his photo taken with a couple of them as well!

After lunch, we headed to Toontown & rode Goofy’s Barnstormer…which terrified my little scaredy cats! They thought it was too fast. We visited Minnie & Mickey’s homes & then met the characters. Surprisingly, they weren’t scared of meeting them! After we left toontown, we rode the cars in the speedway (Mason took driving very seriously…so funny!) and then it started pouring! We went to the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor and I loved hearing Mason’s giggles! They spotlighted Millie during the performance & Mason was a little disappointed his picture didn’t get on the big screen. But, it was definitely one of his…and our…favorite things from the day! We had fast passes for Buzz Lightyear & they loved shooting Zurg’s Z’s! We then went on Stitch’s Great Escape. I’m pretty sure Millie is going to need therapy after that ride! We caught the afternoon parade & Mason & Millie waved at every character that passed by. We then rode the tea cups(Millie’s favorite ride), it’s a small world, had dinner, and then headed to Frontier land. We quickly passed through there, headed to adventure land & rode Aladdin’s carpets, the pirates of the Caribbean (Millie ducked her head under my poncho so she didn’t have to see anything…Mason however loved it!), went on a jungle cruise, and watched the birds in the Tiki house. Whew! We went back to tomorrowland & rode Buzz a few more times. (I’m sure I’m leaving stuff out…but you get the picture! We did more than we ever expected to do!) We watched the Spectromagic parade (wow!! So beautiful) and then waited for the Wishes fireworks to begin. Millie fell asleep while we were waiting, which was a good thing! Fireworks aren’t on her list of favorite things! I really don’t have the words to describe the fireworks display. We stood near the castle & had an amazing view. Mason was up on Tyler’s shoulders and was completely in awe of what he was watching. I stood there and just started to cry. I loved watching him experience the magic of the fireworks at the castle…and it brought so many emotions to surface. It was a celebration of how far we have come in five years since Miles passed away & that this was such a special way to celebrate him. I’m getting teary again just thinking about it! Everyone should get to experience fireworks at the castle!

I’m sure my recount of the day sounds like my kids hated all of the rides…but they truly did love their day at Magic Kingdom. It was such a sweet, special day with them…and at the end of the day the little Princess crashed!

Mason’s thoughts on Magic Kingdom–“I got a sword! I got some toys and I went on the Buzzylightyear ride and shoot the Z’s. I love Miles and I love watching the fireworks!”

Millie’s thoughts on Magic Kingdom–“Magic Kingdom has the tea cups and the Buzz Lightyear ride. I saw those teacup guys (Alice and Wonderland characters). I didn’t like the blue guy (Stitch). I just love you and I saw the robot guy. Will Stitch get me? (no.) I like the girl on Stitch (Lilo). Hey…Lilo, Nemo. That’s almost the same!”

  5. We went to Disney World last November and LOVED it!! We did Magic Kingdom on our last day, so the last thing we saw was that incredible fireworks show.
